School for Creative Startups to hold entrepreneur showcase

The School for Creative Startups is to turn Somerset House in London into a creative business hub this March.

The Startup Showcase event will feature expert talks, interactive workshops and a pop-up marketplace featuring the work of students and alumni from School for Creative Startups, the year-long business training course founded by former Dragon's Den investor Doug Richard.

The event takes place on 23 and 24 March and will feature products from participating creative start-ups. There will also be a programme of talks from industry experts and successful creative business people.

Speakers will include entertainment entrepreneur and angel investor, Michael Jacobsen and Silvia Baumgard of Own-It, who will give tips on protecting IP and avoiding partnership challenges.

In addition, two panel sessions will give any would-be entrepreneurs the chance to perform a five-minute elevator pitch to a panel including Doug Richard, Sophie Cornish, co-founder of notonthehighstreet.com, restaurateur Oliver Peyton and Dale Murray, angel investor of 2011. Those that pitch will get instant feedback and investment advice.

Doug Richard, founder of School for Creative Startups, said: "The Startup Showcase is a wonderful opportunity to highlight and showcase Britain's brilliant creative startup scene and spotlight the rising stars that will become tomorrow's global creative entrepreneurs."
