If you have employees that regularly work alone, either at home, 'on the road', in a fixed establishment such as a shop, petrol station or kiosk or outside of normal working hours, such as a cleaner or security, you still have responsibility for their health, safety and welfare.
The Health and Safety Executive have written a guide, highlighting the risks of lone working and what you need to do to comply with your legal responsibilities towards home and lone workers.
Even if you are self-employed, you still need to be aware of and take action to reduce the risks of lone working.
