Self-employed workers and their partners will gain the right to maternity leave of 14 weeks and some pension rights for the first time under new European Union (EU) legislation that has entered into force.

Self-employed workers and their partners will gain the right to maternity leave of 14 weeks and some pension rights for the first time under new European Union (EU) legislation that has entered into force. The law is expected to reach the UK by 2012.
