The last week or so has seen a flurry of claims and counter-claims about the requirements of health and safety rules during the big freeze.
This follows newspaper reports that the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health was advising people not to clear snow from roads or pavements outside the boundaries of their homes or businesses, in case legal action would follow (http://bit.ly/81RSnY).
The facts here are disputed, but the whole episode has clearly struck a nerve. It prompts me to ask you all where you think we now stand in relation to health and safety legislation in the workplace.
Do you think your business is suffering under 'health and safety gone mad'? Or do you think the rules are fit for their purpose of preventing workplace accidents and injuries?
Don't forget that you'll find a whole host of health and safety tools and resources on the Law Donut: http://www.lawdonut.co.uk/law/employment-law/health-and-safety
