just been suspended from work as a carer after being accused by the service users husband for borrowing money from him.I was to accompy both on a holiday which i paid for myself in cash,I paid the service users husband cash and fully documented it in my diary and also highlighted my bank statement. My company was not to keen on me going away with them as it was called a grey area, and could cause me problems when i got back even though i was booking it as annual leave so i decided not to go.When i told the couple i could not go the husband became upset and returned my money by cheque and thought no further of it.Then i became suspended from work as he reported me for borrowing money. When i went for my meeting with HR there as been further allegations of borrowing cash from him,He as reported me for borrowing cash for car insurance on my vehicle,i have proved my vehicle is a lease vehicle and dont pay for car insurance which i have proved.he has also made a allegation of jewery missing from his house.I am not the only carer that goes to this house.I am now waiting to hear from my employer to find out where i stand.I was doing this couple a favour by helping an elderly couple on holiday and now i could lose my job due to these allegations. How will my employer see this, will this become gross misconduct?
It's important that you follow the process and give your employer a very full account of your side of the story. The employer must act on its reasonable belief on the information it holds. So, make sure that you put your side of the story over in writing.
